Pre-Conference Session 2013

Purposeful Boards, Powerful Fundraising

Offered in partnership with BoardSource, a nonprofit professional organization dedicated to advancing the public good by building exceptional nonprofit boards and inspiring board service, this workshop is specifically designed for our NAADA members to address the challenges that arise when boards and fundraising meet. Grounding the discussion in the legal and ethical responsibilities of board members, this session will help participants to understand and harness their board structure, recruitment, and development processes to best educate and support board members in fundraising. If your organization has ever asked how it can get board members to actively raise money, this training is for you.

This half-day workshop emphasizes the strategies necessary to bring about a change in the culture of your institution or organization, so your board will fundraise more and manage less. You will cover topics such as:

  • nonprofit board roles and responsibilities
  • how to build your board
  • what impact the fundraising landscape has on your fundraising efforts
  • how to make the case and specific fundraising strategies
  • relationship between fundraising and strategic (sustainability) planning

This workshop will help both alumni and development boards to develop or fine-tune their fundraising strategies.
