NAADA Connections

From the President

Jamie Lucero, NAADA President

NAADA colleagues,

Greetings from Virginia Tech!  Fall has finally arrived in Blacksburg just in time for university homecoming this weekend.  I hope all of your programs and events have been successful so far this semester.

Last month your board of directors met in Chicago for the annual fall planning meeting.  Fall is our time for approving the annual budget along with our annual work plan (posted online here).  A key goal for the coming year is to integrate our track representatives into more of the committees across the organization. Please rely on these folks to help share your input, questions, and concerns as we develop programming for the conference and throughout the year.

You’ll also see some new tools being used by our communications committee led by Haley Cook. We encourage you to engage with our social media outlets and if you serve on committees to assist with getting news and updates to Haley and her team to share.

University of Idaho gave an exciting update on their plans for the annual conference June 11-15.  You do not want to miss this conference!  Just the tour descriptions alone had all of us anxiously waiting to book our flights to Boise!

We were fortunate to have three CFPs to review for the 2019 conference.  To have that level of interest from our membership to host our annual conference is a testament to the level of support we have for our organization.  I’m excited to share that Louisiana State University (chaired by Amanda Martin) will be the host of the 2019 conference and Michigan State University (chaired by Kathryn Reed) will host in 2020.

As our new fiscal year begins, our committees will ramp up their meeting schedules. If you haven’t had an opportunity to volunteer for a committee I encourage you to do so right away.  Being involved with committees is one of the best member benefits we have in our organization. It’s a great way to expand your network and an opportunity to learn from others.  Our current committee member list is shared below.  Please email Katie Wilkerson to have your name added to the committee of your choosing.  Reviewing the work plan is a great way to see what committee(s) may interest you.
Thank you all for the work you do for NAADA and your institutions.  Should you have any questions about the coming year of your organization please reach out.

Volunteer for NAADA

Volunteers are at the heart of NAADA’s work. Because of the contributions of volunteers’ time, talent, and expertise, NAADA is able to provide the essential information and tools, vibrant community, and exceptional experiences that we all value so highly. Together, we accomplish incredible things and move the organization forward.

We are currently seeking dedicated members for several of our volunteer committees. These groups assist NAADA in identifying and creating relevant content as well as participate in the work of NAADA in partnership with staff. Being a volunteer will help NAADA accomplish its goals to continue to provide useful and innovative tools to association professionals. We need your skills, passion, and varied perspectives to build an energetic, inclusive, and innovative corps of volunteer leaders. To find an opportunity, access more information and indicate interest in volunteering for NAADA click here.

Current Committee Roster

Your thoughtful responses to the questions posed on the form will be read carefully and will help us seat the most appropriate, diverse, and inclusive teams possible.
