It’s a new academic year – many of you are welcoming students back to campus, dealing with traffic, parking issues, and the congestion that comes with a student population.  Add to that the excitement of classes starting, fall football and other sports on the horizon.   It’s a busy time on all campuses.  Your incoming freshmen make up the class 2022 - hard to believe, but it’s only 4 years away.  It will seem like an eternity to them, but those of us in-the-know realize just how fast time flies. 

With the calendar year underway, your NAADA Board is preparing for its first meeting this fall.  We held our Board orientation this week, so everyone will be ready to work when we meet face to face.  We are also preparing for a Strategic Planning session – which forces us to gaze into the crystal ball and think about where we want to be in 4-5 years.  We are really good at planning for the short term, what we want to accomplish this year, and planning our Conference for the upcoming year, but long-term is much more challenging for a volunteer board.  We came away from the Idaho Conference with some great ideas to focus our time and energy on for the next few years; we have already begun discussions with MANRRS, and a Volunteer Task Force is looking into strengthening our volunteer track and possibly redefining what a volunteer is for the organization. If you have ideas to share, feel free to contact me.

If you volunteered for a committee, you should be hearing from your chair very soon.  If you would still like to volunteer it’s not too late – we would love to have you.  We appreciate contributions from all the membership, it’s what makes as stronger.  There was a callout last week for volunteers for the Marketing & Communications Committee – if you have a creative streak and want to help with social posts we can put those talents to work.  There are multiple ways to get in contact with us!

Membership renewals have been sent, and some are already coming in.  Be sure you are making the most of your NAADA membership – participation in NAADA or any group is best when you are an active member.  “I shall participate, I shall contribute, and in so doing, I will be the gainer”.  Walter Annenberg

Calling All Creatives - We Need Your Help!

We are currently seeking members for our Communications and Marketing Committee. This group assists NAADA in identifying and creating relevant content as well as participating in the work of NAADA in partnership with staff. Being a volunteer will help NAADA accomplish its goals to continue to provide useful and innovative tools to our members. We need your skills, passion, and varied perspectives to build a comprehensive communications and marketing plan.
Time commitment: 2-3 hours monthly

2019 Conference Call for Proposals

NAADA 2019

The NAADA Education Committee invites education session proposals for the annual conference of alumni, communication, development, student services professionals, and alumni volunteers of land grant universities and colleges of agriculture and related sciences. This year's conference theme is Resilience – Strength in New Beginnings and will be held June 10-13, 2019 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Feel free to send your ideas for potential topics and speakers to the Education Committee Chair Adam Cahill.

Deadline: Presentation applications, along with a personal headshot and bio, are due to NAADA by 5 p.m., October 12, 2018.

Time to Renew your NAADA Membership!

The continued support and participation of your institutions and organizations allows NAADA to provide education, support and recognition for individuals dedicated to expanding resources for land-grant and other colleges of agricultural sciences and related programs.

NAADA Membership renewals were sent to campus contacts in early August. Renewal payments are requested by September 30. Please let us know if you need another copy of the invoice, would like to review your membership roster, or want to change your NAADA membership level.
