NAADA Connections

From the President

Renee Keese

Aaannd…. they’re off! No, I’m not at a horse race, but we are at the post (starting line) for another academic year. I’m not even on a campus and I’m feeling it. Students are preparing to move in, it’s time for ‘Welcome Back’ events, classes will start and so will fall football. I’m certainly looking forward to the cooler temperatures that go along with all these things. It’s been a tough summer in the agricultural world – Mother Nature has not been kind. And we’re off to the races with the management of your NAADA association. In a few weeks the NAADA Board will meet in Minneapolis and the planning for our annual activities and next year’s conference will officially begin.

What do you look for from the organization? Many people will say it’s our annual conference that is the highlight, but what do you want out of your membership between conferences? We would love to hear from you. What kind of outreach is helpful to you – more training on additional topics that were not covered at the conference or continued discussion from specific topics that were discussed at the conference? Is a webinar or a podcast useful to you? If so, would you prefer a live or on-demand version? Just a few things to think about as you get ready to share your wants and needs in our upcoming social media poll and membership survey. Like the conference survey, we hope the feedback from the membership survey will help us create greater value to all our members and appreciate your thoughtful responses.
Committee chairs will be reaching out soon – thanks to all who already volunteered and if someone still wants to join a committee, we would love to have you. Even if a committee doesn’t actively meet for a few months, volunteers should hear from the chair with details on what to expect. If you’re interested you can drop a note to Katie Wallstein or myself, and we’ll get you connected with the right people. We greatly appreciate any and all participation!

It is also the time of year for our membership renewals. The campus contacts will receive renewal information very soon. Being a member means you have become part of a larger group, which entitles you to benefits; but your participation is as much a benefit to yourself as to the organization. NAADA is on the front stretch of the 2019-2020 year; won’t you join us?

Time to Renew your NAADA Membership!

The continued support and participation of your institutions and organizations allows NAADA to provide education, support and recognition for individuals dedicated to expanding resources for land-grant and other colleges of agricultural sciences and related programs.

During our 2018 spring board meeting, the Board of Directors evaluated and voted to increase our membership dues effective the 2019-2020 membership year. This is the first dues increase that has been considered and approved since 2012.

Raising dues is not something we take lightly. Our goal is to make sure you are receiving the highest value from NAADA on as many levels as possible for your investment. As NAADA continues to grow, we will continue to expand the services and opportunities to provide members with increased resources and quality programming. Take full advantage of your membership by utilizing the resources available through our website.

NAADA Membership renewals will be sent to campus contacts in early September. Renewal payments are requested by October 15. Please let us know if you need another copy of the invoice, would like to review your membership roster, or want to change your NAADA membership level.
