Conference 2021

2020 has been a year that has taken so much from us, but I also think it has given us extensive opportunities to grow. Our sense of normal was unhinged, we began the WFH life, we made masks, bought out all of the toilet paper and hand sanitizer, became Zoom experts, spent more time with our families, and hopefully, we reflected. We reflected not only where we’re at personally but where we’re at as a society, and how we can forge ahead to create meaningful change. As we reflect on what it means to be a part of our communities, our universities, and our organizations, we must all recognize that listening and learning is crucial to the expedition ahead.

As we embark on the next part of our journey into the fall semester, I encourage you to continue that reflection and utilize this network of supporters to help drive your action as together, we forge ahead. While we’ve navigated the uncharted territory of moving to an online life, we look forward to bringing the NAADA family back together for an expedition to beautiful Portland, Oregon in 2021!

Throughout the education sessions, keynote speakers, and celebrations, this NAADA reunion will be one that will bring about meaningful discussions for growth, ideas to make your institutions stronger, and hopefully some time to just hug our buddies that we have missed during this long journey.

In this 2021 conference kickoff email, you will find some fun and helpful resources to help you prepare for this upcoming expedition. On behalf of our great organization, forge ahead!

  • Official Guide to Portland - Get a free copy of the official guide to Portland --you can view online or order a free printed copy.
  • Tours - You can look forward to an amazing pre-conference day focused on coastal Oregon with stops at a robotic dairy farm, flower farm, creamery, brewery, and a little hiking at Cape Lookout State Park
  • You will have your choice of some outstanding tours around Portland during our afternoon tour schedule as well. Here are a few highlights but we want to keep a few things a surprise for you!

Nominate your dynamic alumni to be a Keynote Speaker for our Expedition to Portland!

With NAADA playing host to our 2021 conference, we need our member institutions to help us connect with Portland-area alumni to lead our three keynote speaker sessions.

This is a great opportunity for alumni and donor cultivation and stewardship.  Who of your best and brightest can share an impactful message to align with our theme “Forge Ahead”?

Please send suggestions to Jamie Lucero (jlucero@vt.edu) no later than September 1, 2020.
